Grocery Store Information

A number of local and national grocery stores have released guidelines surrounding COVID-19 includes limited the number of a particular items purchased at one time, the times in which certain customers are allowed to shop, and general social distancing requirements while shopping at their facilities. We encourage you to reach out to your local store and follow any guidelines they may have in place. We will list any information we have available here for stores in our community with links to the information.

In addition to this information, any worker displaced by COVID-19 closures could seek interim employment with grocery stores in order to help maintain this critical supply chain.

Restaurant Owners and Service Industry Employees

We know this is a difficult time for all of the service industry employees and owners affected by current distancing guidelines. We are working on bringing you a list of resources that might help you through these times. Keep in mind these are only ideas and each employer or employee should use their discretion. In the meantime, any employers who has had to layoff any employee as a result of COVID-19 distancing guidelines should file a partial claim with the Georgia Department of Labor. You can get more information about filing partial claims on our State Resources page.

Crowdsourced Funding for Affected Employees

Several restaurateurs are starting crowdsourcing campaigns on sites like GoFundMe.com in an effort to raise money to help employees make ends meet through their shutdown. We encourage you to make sure you are aware of the rules and regulations that are involved in these types of campaigns before you proceed.

Registering on ServiceIndustry.tips

Affected service industry employees can register to receive tips through a Service Industry website. This particular website is for the Chattanooga area. Each time the page is loaded, the site will pick a random service industry team member who has registered to let the visitor to the site leave a tip for that employee.

Buying Gift Cards from Restaurants

We hope everyone can safely visit any restaurant in our community that is still open and offering takeout or delivery orders if they are able. However, we understand the concern of leaving your home during this time. If you have a favorite local spot to eat, we encourage you to visit their website or call their store to see if they offer gift cards for sale. This is a great way to show your support for their establishment during the COVID-19 pandemic. And once social distancing guidelines are lifted, you'll be ready to visit them in person to use your gift card.
